Dr. Shalvin Prasad

Dr Shalvin Prasad is an internationally trained and experienced Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric, General and Minimally Invasive Surgeon.

He graduated in medicine from the University of Otago and completed general surgery training in New Zealand in 2013 with admission as Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Dr Prasad obtained a further three years of clinical fellowship experience in subspecialty areas of upper gastrointestinal surgery, weight loss surgery and minimally access surgery, with the final two years at University of Calgary teaching hospitals in Canada.

He currently holds a consultant surgeon public appointment at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He is a current visiting surgeon to country hospitals in Whyalla and Port Augusta. Dr Prasad is a member of ANZGOSA and ANZMOSS.

Dr Prasad is the lead surgeon for Bariatric Surgery services at Royal Adelaide Hospital. He has an interest in reflux conditions and is clinical director of the oesophageal pH and motility laboratory at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He has presented and published internationally and is involved with clinical research, medical student teaching and is intern and junior doctor supervisor at both RAH and QEH.
